| June 2002 Press Information A Full Value-Packed Programme at Southeast Asia's leading Healthcare Platform A quick look at the health status of the Southeast Asian region shows that the region has seen an increased momentum in health development. Overall life expectancy has increased, crude death rates have declined and infant mortality rates have improved considerably. However, the region still faces some daunting challenges such as the burgeoning population, high maternal mortality rates and the increase in non-communicable diseases. All these have resulted in creating a greater demand for healthcare. Efforts are being made by the individual countries to strengthen their health services and to make healthcare available close to where people live. International companies who are connected or related to the healthcare industry have acknowledged that "health is more than a medical or scientific issue. Its content, delivery and outcomes extend far beyond the confines of the ministries of health." In meeting the needs of the region, medical and healthcare practitioners, manufacturers and suppliers will converge in Singapore from 10 to 12 September 2002, for the fourth presentation of HOSPIMedica ASIA. Benchmarked as the region's most comprehensive medical and healthcare platform, this premier event will showcase the very best in medical healthcare research, equipment, products and services from some 300 international exhibiting companies spanning the globe including national group representations from Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Korea, Pakistan and Spain. Science/technological break-through and modern medical technology has helped improve the global health status. Many exhibitors at HOSPIMedica ASIA will be introducing new products and solutions to the Southeast Asian markets. These include the latest state-of-the-art lasers, clinical and diagnostics instruments, insulin pumps, ECG devices, endoscopic systems and components, hospital information system, software solutions for hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood banks and many others.
