POST-SHOW REPORT (1999) ICAM ASIA International Trade Fair for Industrial Control, Automation and Measurement Making its debut in Singapore from 17 - 19 September 1998 at the World Trade Centre, ICAM ASIA - International Trade Fair for Industrial Control, Automation and Measurement welcomed more than 2,282 quality trade visitors from 28 countries. 104 exhibitors 15 countries participated in the exhibition. The analysis in the accompanying pages is done base on a sampling of 46 exhibitors and 286 trade visitors surveyed over the 3-day exhibition period. Feedback received from 21 out of the 26 delegates who participated in the Engineering Tour to Tuas Power Plant, Mobil and Yokogawa's new automated facility is also included. Most exhibitors participated in ICAM ASIA 98 with the primary objectives of generating new business and accessing market potentials. More than 70 per cent of the exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the trade visitors attending the trade show. The majority of the exhibitors were satisfied with their participation at ICAM ASIA 98 with about 13 per cent exhibiting again and 80 per cent considering their participation for the next show. A large number of the trade visitors found their visit to ICAM ASIA 98 useful in relation to their work. 82 per cent of them rated the products and technologies displayed at ICAM ASIA 98 as comprehensive with some 53 per cent registering interest to place orders for some of the exhibits displayed at the exhibition. Compliments were also received from trade visitors on the up-to-date technologies, attractive exhibits display and the diverse group of exhibitors participating at ICAM ASIA 98. The Engineering Tour to Tuas Power Plant, Mobil and Yokogawa's new facility was well attended by industry professionals involving in the various aspects of industrial control industry. Delegates gave very positive feedback on the engineering tour which met their expectations. A high 95 per cent of the delegates indicated that they benefited from the tour. The positive and favourable feedback from industry participants have attributed to the success of ICAM ASIA 98, which has anchored itself as the Asian platform for the industrial control, automation and measurement industries in harnessing available potentials and providing solutions for process control and automation plants and factories. The next ICAM ASIA will be held in Singapore again in the year 2001 together with the INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION and LOGISMAT exhibitions at the Singapore Expo. EXHIBITORS Total : 104 Exhibitors from 15 Countries  Exhibitors' Objectives Exhibitors were mainly at ICAM ASIA to generate new business and assess market potentials. Maintaining corporate presence and seeking agents/distributors were also ranked high on their list of objectives.  Participation at ICAM ASIA 2001 13% of the exhibitors' surveyed have decided to participate at ICAM ASIA 2001 with another 80% considering booking space.  VISITORS Total : 2,282 Visitors from 28 Countries Despite the economic climate, ASEAN nations contributed significantly to the number of foreign trade visitors, especially Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand.   Range of Products and Technologies 82% of the visitors surveyed were satisfied with the range of products and technologies displayed at ICAM ASIA 98.  Possibility of Purchase All in all, 53% of the visitors have registered their interest in placing orders for some of the products and technologies exhibited at ICAM ASIA 98.  Trade Visitors' Assessment The majority of the visitors found their visit to ICAM ASIA useful in relation to their work.  Things which Trade Visitors liked about ICAM ASIA Most of the trade visitors were pleased with the products and technologies exhibited at ICAM ASIA 98 which they found to be up-to-date. Good organization, display of exhibits and presence of a diverse group of exhibitors are some other impressive features they liked about the exhibition.
ENGINEERING TOUR Delegates' Rating The engineering tour was well received by all the delegates. 67% of the delegates rated the tour as good. Another 14% found it excellent.   Expectation and Benefits 95% of the delegates reverted that the engineering tour met with their expectations and that they benefited from the trip.  Future Sites Below are some engineering sites suggested by the delegates to be included for future engineering tours.
