February 2001 Press Release For immediate release Integrated Solutions for Total Enterprise Automation All Under One Roof IA, ICAM ASIA and LOGISMAT will return in full force once again in 2001 and will be held concurrently at the Singapore Expo from 5-8 June. As investor confidence mounts, Asian manufacturers and processors are now channeling their precious resources to address the critical demands of their businesses in their bid to compete globally. Realizing the urgency to help businesses compete effectively and efficiently, Messe Düsseldorf Asia brings together the 3-in-1 event that will offer solutions for the complete integration of the manufacturing and processing enterprise. IA will showcase manufacturing automation and assembly solutions; ICAM ASIA will offer technologies and products for process control, automation and instrumentation while LOGISMAT will bring together the latest in material handling, logistics and supply chain management. The event will encompass two showcases on Networking Automation and Factory Automation. Networking Automation aims to provide life-sized online demonstrations involving different bus standards. The manufacturing end users' desire to disengage from older, centralised plant control strategies to decentralised control in the field is driving the demand for bus systems. They want an enabling technology that grants true interoperability, greater field-level control and inexpensive installation costs. While Factory Automation will present an ideal total enterprise automation technology and solution. This showcase will bring together the best in software and hardware to provide a seamless flow. Further enhancing the event is a 3-day conference endorsed by the IEEE Singapore Section as well as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (Singapore Chapter 219). Entitled "Total Enterprise Solutions - Internetization & Globalization", the conference will have 6 sessions covering major topics on Enabling Technology, Competitive Business Concepts/ Proposition, Motivation, Design, Planning & Development, Fieldbus and Control System Technology. In line with the integration effort, the traditionally separate conferences namely, IA and ICAM will for the first time be combined into a single event. This has torn down the traditional barriers between professionals in the Manufacturing (Factory Automation) and Process industries (Instrumentation and Control) which will help facilitate the sharing of knowledge and networking with other professionals. The keynote speaker for the conference is Professor N Viswanadham, Deputy Director of The Logistics Institute Asia Pacific and also Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He is also a Fellow of the IEEE, Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation. Professor Viswanadham is also the author of several textbooks, the latest entitled, "Analysis of Manufacturing Enterprises - An Approach to Leveraging Value Delivery Processes for Competitive Advantage", as well as journal articles and conference papers. IA and LOGISMAT 2001 are co-organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia Pte Ltd and the Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) and endorsed by the Economic Development Board while IA is supported by the Singapore Trade Development Board.
